No vacancies on main stretch of Sandwich Street

While the pandemic is decimating small businesses across the country, at least one area of Windsor is putting up a strong fight.

There are no longer any commercial vacancies along the main stretch of Sandwich Towne between Detroit Street and Brock Street.

"There are no vacancies where there's existing properties for rent, all of them have been occupied. It's a really great success story, and a testament to the resiliency, and grit, and hard work of our small business community here," said Ward 2 Councillor Fabio Costante.

Most recently, S&K Sandwich and Kabsa Hub opened up to occupy the last available storefront.

"The businesses have adapted.  New businesses have opened up just recently, and recognize that being on the main street is important. There's thousands of cars that drive through every day.  There's a lot of visibility, and it surely helps their business," said Costante.

Along the stretch, residents will find restaurants, bars, a bakery other storefronts.
