On Wednesday and Thursday, those who want to help the family of a child killed on Sunday night in a hit-and-run collision in Windsor can do so.
The Windsor-Essex Chapter of Autism Ontario will be collecting donations to help the family with the funeral costs between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. those days.
Its office is at the Gino Marcus Community Complex at 1168 Drouillard Rd.
The group is collecting cash, cheques, and gift cards.
Those who wish to make an e-transfer can send it to jbondy@manorrealty.ca using the password "autism."
Windsor police have not identified the child, but the group confirmed it was a seven-year-old boy who had run from his home.
Police are still looking for the driver of a silver-coloured SUV or crossover vehicle involved in the tragedy. They released more photos on Tuesday night in hopes someone will recognize it and call investigators.
Meanwhile, a comment posted on Autism Ontario's Facebook page said a candlelight vigil is planned for Friday at 6 p.m. It will take place at the site of the crash on Jefferson Boulevard at Haig Avenue.
