Three more cases of COVID-19 linked to public board

The Greater Essex County District School Board reported another three cases of COVID-19 linked to its schools on Monday.

Another case has been identified at Tecumseh Vista elementary school and one case has been identified in the secondary school stream. The health unit reported a case in the school's elementary stream last Thursday. Neither the school board nor the health unit has reported a link between the cases. The entire school remains open.

A student at Sandwich Secondary has also tested positive for the virus.

Any student that has not been contacted by the health unit is not considered to be a close contact of the positive case and may attend school as per usual.

Parents are encouraged to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning.

To date, there have been 51 cases linked to schools within the GECDSB. Most are linked to an outbreak at Begley Public School, which has been closed until further notice.

The health unit is also monitoring an outbreak at W.J. Langlois school with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. Four cases of COVID-19 have been linked to this outbreak.
