Windsor police have arrested a man connected to the hit-and-run that claimed the life of a child last week.
The seven-year-old boy was struck and killed in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Haig Avenue on November 15, 2020. The vehicle involved left the scene before police arrived.
The Windsor police have not identified the child, however, the Windsor-Essex Chapter of Autism Ontario identified the boy as a member of their community.
Police issued multiple pleas to the public for information following the incident, and on November 19, police seized a 2006 Dodge Caravan believed to be the vehicle involved. Investigators are now satisfied the seized vehicle was in fact the same vehicle that was involved in the hit-and-run.
Police then identified a suspect who was arrested on Friday. He was taken into custody and a number of criminal charges are anticipated. Police have not named the individual but further details are expected to be released in the coming days.
The investigation is still ongoing.
