73 with COVID-19 at The Village at St. Clair

Schlegel Villages is reporting a massive outbreak of COVID-19 at its Village at St. Clair long-term care home.

According to the facility's website, 73 residents and team members have tested positive for the virus.

The note to family members said it included essential caregivers, agency staff, contracted service providers and care providers contracted by the Local Health Integration Units in their accounting of team member cases.

"As the massive round of resident and team member testing continues, we have also seen a significant increase in active cases at The Village at St. Clair in Windsor, which is home to 256 residents. As of last night, there is a total of 48 positive resident cases and 25 team members who have now tested positive for COVID-19, and testing throughout The Village continues today," read an update on the home's website.

The update, posted Monday, continued to say staff members from the central Schlegel Villages support office in Kitchener are on-site "to gain a full understanding of the scope of the outbreak while supporting all of the residents."

Two staff members had also tested positive at The Village of Aspen Lake in Tecumseh. Their cases are resolved, but one resident still has the virus.
