WRH managing three outbreaks

Windsor Regional Hospital continues to manage COVID-19 outbreaks in three of its units.

Outbreaks have been declared in the 4 Medical (4M) and 6 East (6E) units at the Ouellette Campus, and the 4 North (4N) unit at the Met Campus.

To date, 4M has had eight patients and five staff test positive, 6E has had eight patients and four staff test positive, and 4N has had seven staff test positive.

“As previously stated, we expect to experience these situations as COVID-19 continues to spread in our community,” said WRH Chief Nursing Executive and Chief Operating Officer Karen Riddell. “We continue to remain vigilant in ensuring that we have the correct infection prevention and control guidelines and precautions in place to reduce spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

Testing of patients and staff continues throughout the hospital. Outbreak measures are currently in place on these units.

Admissions are still occurring, however, all COVID-19 positive patients are being placed in units together.
