MNSi Telecom outage leaves hundreds without internet, phone, TV

Some internet customers in Windsor-Essex spent much of Monday without computer, telephone or TV capability.

According to a brief post on its Facebook page, MNSi Telecom reported an outage that began late Monday morning. The outage apparently affected hundreds of customers across the region. The situation was complicated further with many people continuing to work from home due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

"We know this can be frustrating and inconvenient," read a comment by MNSi Telecom on its own post. "Unlike scheduled maintenance where you know it's down from this time to that time, this problem came out of left field. Rest assured we will continue to work the problem until it is resolved."

Customers are being asked not to reset or disconnect any equipment unless directed by a technician to do so.

Internet and phone service was restored late Monday afternoon, and by 10 p.m., most customers had television service back.

There has been no word on what caused the problem. BlackburnNewsWindsor.com has reached out to MNSi Telecom for additional information on the outage but has yet to receive a response.
