UWindsor planning for in-person classes for fall semester

The University of Windsor is keeping its classes online for the intersession and summer session but planning for in-person classes in the fall.

Provost and Vice President of Academics Douglas Kneale said with the region just recently coming out of lockdown, and vaccine rollout just beginning the university has decided to continue to offer the bulk of its classes online for the next two semesters.

Only limited classes, labs and clinicals are being done in-person and on-campus.

"Looking ahead to fall '21, September of this year, we are planning for a safe and measured return to campus," said Kneale "We are planning to have in-person instruction face-to-face instruction to a greater degree but we haven't figured out all of the details of what that will look like."

Kneale said they will continue to monitor local, provincial, and federal regulations and keep students up to date with all decisions moving forward.

However, he does expect many professors will take what they learned this past year and apply it to classes in the future.

"I can foresee, depending on the discipline or the topic of the course, some greater degree of technology to support the delivery of the course but I'm not sure if it will be all or nothing," said Kneale.
