Outbreak declared at École élémentaire catholique Monseigneur-Jean-Noël

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at École élémentaire catholique Monseigneur-Jean-Noël in Windsor.

There have been four cases, spread over three classes, identified at the school. The school remains open.

"The outbreak is linked to an already excluded cohort. Under the direction of the Medical Officer of Health, and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU)  all school cohorts of staff and students who are high-risk exposures have been dismissed. All other members of the school community continue their regular activities," said Lyne Cossette with Conseil scolaire catholique Providence.

This is the first outbreak declared at a local school since students returned to in-class learning in February.

There have also been active cases at W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School and Cardinal Carter Catholic Middle School with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board.

The Greater Essex County District School Board also reported new cases at Herman Academy Secondary School and Kennedy High School. There are currently 10 active cases within the school board. A full list of schools involved can be found here.
