Deadline to pay Provincial Offences fines past due

If you got a ticket after February 1, 2020, the time has come to pay up.

Earlier in the pandemic, the Ontario government issued an order suspending the due date for most fines.

"This meant that if you received a ticket after February 1, 2020, there were no repercussions if you did not follow the instructions on the back of your ticket," read a notice from the Windsor/Essex Provincial Offences Office.

However, the order expired on February 26.

That means, if you have not paid your fine, there is a chance you have already been convicted of the charge and owe the full amount plus any associated court costs.

Those costs need to be paid within 30 days of your conviction, or your license will be suspended until you pay the amount.

Anyone with an outstanding fine, conviction, or question regarding the status of their license can call the Windsor/Essex Provincial Offences Office at 519-255-6555.
