Crews battle large pallet fire in central Windsor

A large pallet fire in central Windsor has caused some trouble for firefighters and hydro workers.

Fire officials were called to an area on Crawford Avenue at Tecumseh Road West sometime after 8 p.m. Tuesday. According to emergency crews, an outdoor pallet and surrounding debris caught fire, causing power outages in the area.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Windsor Fire tweeted that the fire was out. In a subsequent tweet, fire officials said the damages were confined to the pallets and debris only and the nearby building was unscathed. The cause is suspected to have been from a transformer failure above the affected area.

Police had asked people to avoid Malden Road between Tecumseh Road and Huron Church Road, as well as Tecumseh Road between Crawford Avenue and Huron Church Road. ENWIN said all hydro service in the area has been restored.
