Tuesday is the deadline for Windsor firefighter applicants

If you want to be considered for a position with Windsor Fire and Rescue, you have until Tuesday afternoon to get your application in.

The City of Windsor is taking applications for the 2021 firefighter recruitment class. Applicants have until 4:30 p.m. to submit their intentions online.

Interested applicants must be 18 or older, be legally permitted to work in Canada, and have either an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalency. If an applicant is hired, they must also provide proof of a current, valid and lawful Class “D” driver’s licence, with “Z” endorsement, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle. A driver’s abstract is also needed as a condition of employment.

According to the city's job posting, applicants must also be willing to provide a satisfactory medical assessment, obtain a certificate indicating the successful completion of a job-related agility test administered by a City-authorized institution, and pass an aptitude test.
