Feedback requested on new dual-track Tecumseh school

A local school board wants your input on the design of a new school building.

The Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) has revealed the design and plans for a new dual-track school in Tecumseh. The school will be for kindergarten to grade 8, offering instruction in English and French Immersion.

The site is located just north of Tecumseh Road East, and west of Arlington Boulevard. It will replace nearby D.M. Eagle Public School and serve students in Tecumseh and Lakeshore.

A video preview of the plans for the 5.79-acre parcel of land is on the public board's official website through June 18. Residents will have a chance to ask questions and provide feedback by contacting this email address.

A sum of $3.7-million for the purchase of the land was announced earlier this year by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The new school was announced by Queens Park in 2015.

The GECDSB Board of Trustees is scheduled to discuss the budget and the design of the Tecumseh project at its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 15.
