ESHC allowing some visitors

With an increase in vaccination rates and a decrease of COVID-19 cases in the region, Erie Shores Healthcare has decided to ease visitor restrictions at the hospital.

Each patient will be allowed one visitor per day in one specified time slot. According to the new visitor policy, patients or their substitute decision-makers will choose a maximum of two essential visitors to rotate over the patient’s stay. However, only one essential visitor is permitted to stay each day and during their chosen time slot.

Visitors cannot be under the age of 18. In addition, COVID-19 screening will remain in effect.

Exceptions will be made for patients in labour, patients with dementia or cognitive impairment, and for the parents or guardians of a sick child.

All visitors must continue to wear medical-grade face masks while visiting the hospital.

Visiting restrictions will remain in place for COVID-19 positive/suspected patients or patients in the ICU. Family members will be contacted by the Patient-Family Liaison to book a time to speak to their loved ones through technology such as iPads.
