One charged, one wanted in Windsor weapons case

Windsor police have charged one person and are looking for another following a situation that led to a gun being seized.

Officers arrived at a home on Francois Road near Seminole Street at around 5:45 a.m. Monday after someone complained about a person with a firearm. The pair of suspects, one male and the other female, ran before police arrived.

According to Constable Darius Goze, officers learned that the male suspect pointed the gun at adult male and female victims, and the female suspect assaulted the female victim before fleeing.

Police said that all people involved were known to each other, and this was not a random occurrence.

The male suspect was found by police in the next block, on Ellrose Avenue, at around 6:30 a.m. The gun and magazine were recovered by officers.

Police have not identified the 35-year-old male suspect. He is charged with two counts apiece of pointing a firearm and assault with a weapon. He also faces one count apiece of assault, mischief under $5,000, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm without a licence, careless use of a firearm, and failure to comply with a court order.

These charges have not been proven in court.

The 25-year-old female suspect, also not identified, is wanted on an assault charge.

The Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and has asked anyone in the area of Seminole Street near Francois Road or Ellrose Avenue to check security camera footage for anything unusual.

Anyone with information should call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
