The temperature is going back up, and that means Windsor has opened up options for people to beat the heat.
The City of Windsor has opened its temporary cooling centre in the atrium of the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre. It will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the heat warning is cancelled.
The city will have staff members on-site to assist people, with tables and chairs set up to ensure physical distancing. Masks or face shields are required for everyone using the centre, and people may be subject to advance COVID-19 screening.
Due to the physical distancing required at this location, the city has asked people to use it only if they have no other option for staying out of the heat.
There are other options available, as the city has reopened Sandpoint Beach and all splash pads located around the city, with the exception of Remington Booster Park. Splash pad locations can be found on the city's official website.
The city is also operating the H-4 day program at the Windsor Water World property from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. The facility provides support for people experiencing homelessness and allows for more physical distancing.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has provided tips and information on its official website on beating the heat.
