Another COVID-19 death in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported one additional death connected to COVID-19 in the region Tuesday.

A woman in her 70s passed away after contracting the virus.

There have been 435 deaths in Windsor-Essex as a result of COVID-19.

There was only one new case recorded in the region since Monday. It is still under investigation by the health unit.

There are 34 active cases in the community now, and eight of them involve a variant of concern. Local hospitals are treating 14 patients who tested positive for the virus.

Since March 2021, there have been 16,834 confirmed infections. The total was reduced by nine cases from Monday because of a recent data cleanup.

To date, 275,568 residents of Windsor-Essex have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 180,334 have received both doses. That represents 51.2 per cent of adults in the region.
