Health Unit reports two new COVID-19 cases, no increase in total caseload

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit recorded two new community-acquired COVID-19 cases in the region on Thursday.

There are currently 23 active cases in the community. Among those, 13 involve a variant of concern.

Two patients are being treated in the hospital for the virus.

Due to ongoing data clean up there was a net-zero increase of cases overall.  That total stands at 16,832.

The health unit continues to monitor two active outbreaks in the community.

To date, 54.1 per cent of adults in Windsor-Essex have been fully vaccinated. In all of Ontario, 51.1 per cent of adults have received both doses of the vaccine.

A total of 468,440 doses have been administered in Windsor Essex.  Across Ontario, 16-million doses have been given out.
