Restaurant owner catches break-in suspect red-handed

Working late helped thwart a break-and-enter at a LaSalle restaurant on Malden Road.

The owner was working late in his office at 2 a.m. Friday when he heard someone breaking in.

He called the police. They arrived within one minute, surrounded the restaurant, and found a suspect inside.

Video surveillance showed the man got in by breaking through a door. It also recorded him rummaging through things in front of the business.

Police arrested the suspect without incident and charged him with break-and-entering, possession of break-in instruments, and breach of probation.
