Given all the rain that fell on the region early Thursday morning, it's not a surprise the Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch.
"Storms have brought roughly 30-50 mm in some areas of 6 a.m. this morning with another storm passing through that could bring the total amount to 50-75 mm by noon," read a statement from ERCA.
The ground is still very wet and lake levels elevated, so flood plains around major waterways in Windsor-Essex will be swollen.
"People are encouraged to take extra caution to avoid areas where flooding occurs as well as rivers, streams, and shoreline areas," it continued.
It reminds residents even standing water can be dangerous.
The agency will continue to monitor the forecast and could modify its advisory. In the meantime, the flood watch is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday.
