Ouellette Car Cruise revs engines on Friday

If you're a fan of vintage, muscle, and classic cars, the place to be Friday is on Ouellette Avenue.

The sixth annual Ouellette Car Cruise will start at Riverside Drive at Goyeau Street at 5 p.m. The route will take the parade of cars south on Ouellette Avenue to Tecumseh Road East. At Pillette Road, it'll turn southward to Riverside before returning to Ouellette.

Vehicles can register at 1 p.m. at Caesars Windsor's Red Lot at Riverside Drive East at Montreuil. It was open at the parking lot at the Riverfront Festival Plaza, but organizers say that lot is already full.

Registration is open until 6 p.m., but space is limited because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Car owners can also register online.

"The history of the automobile is deeply connected to Windsor," said the owner of Crawford General Contracting, Steve Crawford. His company has sponsored the event for the past three years.

"COVID cancelled a lot of things," said Chair of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association, Brian Yeomans. "But it couldn't put the brakes on the Ouellette Car Cruise."
