Labour Day is the unofficial end of the summer vacation season, and that means many government employees and some businesses will take the day off.
With Labour Day a statutory holiday, all federal, provincial, and municipal government offices will be closed. There will be no Canada Post delivery.
All banks, credit unions, and financial institutions are closed on Labour Day, though automated banking machines will be accessible.
Service Ontario offices are closed Monday. Residents can still perform certain transactions online, such as licence plate and some driver licence renewals.
All LCBO locations will be closed Labour Day, with regular hours resuming Tuesday. Select locations of The Beer Store will be open on Monday, typically from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check with your favourite location to avoid disappointment.
All Windsor Public Library branches will be closed Monday with summer hours resuming Tuesday and in effect until September 20. All Essex County Library branches are also closed Labour Day, with only select branches open Tuesday.
Devonshire Mall will be open on Labour Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also, Tecumseh Mall’s hours are noon to 5 p.m., while Windsor Crossing Outlet Mall is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Physical distancing and mask policies apply.
The 311 call centre will be closed Monday, and be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. Some 311 services can be accessed online. The 211 phone line will be answered throughout Windsor-Essex 24 hours a day as usual.
Residential garbage, recycling and yard waste collection in Windsor will not take place Monday and will be delayed one day. Night commercial collection and weekly recycling will proceed as usual. The public garbage and household chemical waste drop-off depot at Central Ave. and E.C. Row will be closed, but open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please refer to your waste collection calendar for more information.
All indoor recreation facilities in the City of Windsor are closed on Labour Day, with the exception of the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) at Windsor Water World, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex, Forest Glade Community Centre, Adie Knox Herman Recreation Complex, Gino and Liz Marcus Community Complex, and Windsor Water World will reopen on Tuesday for registered after-school activities.
Windsor's indoor arenas are under COVID-19 reduced services protocol and are closed Labour Day. All arenas are open Tuesday for regularly-scheduled ice rentals.
Sandpoint Beach and all outdoor pools in Windsor are now closed for the season. All of the city's spray pads, with the exception of Remington Booster Park, are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Adventure Bay Family Water Park is closed until further notice due to COVID-19 restrictions. The same goes for the Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House.
There will be no parking enforcement in Windsor on Monday, and all metered street parking will be free. Parking lots and garages will be paid as usual. All parking enforcement offices are closed, but payments can still be made online.
Transit Windsor buses will run on the Sunday and holiday schedule Monday, and the buses will run on a full weekday schedule Tuesday, with the exception of the tunnel bus to Detroit, which is closed until further notice. The terminal on Chatham Street West will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the sales office on North Service Road will be closed Monday.
