St. Clair College reports one COVID-19 outbreak

COVID-19 has affected a single academic program at St. Clair College's main Windsor campus.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit declared an outbreak of the virus in one of the college's programs, affecting two different semesters. The outbreak was linked to exposure in two cohorts.

Neither the health unit nor St. Clair College has identified the program affected by the outbreak.

Students and faculty who are affected have already been notified and were directed to self-monitor for symptoms.

The college has a mandatory vaccination policy, where students and staff must either be fully vaccinated or submit to rapid COVID-19 testing every 72 hours. Students and staff are also subject to daily screenings in order to enter any building operated by the school.

As of Wednesday morning, St. Clair College had an 80.5 per cent vaccination rate for its entire campus community. Also, 12.9 per cent have received at least one vaccine dose, and the rest have chosen to either not vaccinate or disclose their status.

All of St. Clair College's campuses are open and functioning as usual.
