Pair of suspects charged after opioids, cocaine seized during raid

Windsor police say a man and a woman face a slew of charges after a search warrant turned up a number of narcotics.

Officers with the Drugs and Guns Unit (DIGS) say the investigation was launched back in August after investigators identified a male and a female who were suspected of trafficking illicit drugs.

On Tuesday, police applied for and were granted a warrant authorizing the search of a residence and a vehicle. The DIGS Unit located the male suspect while he was driving the involved vehicle on Slater Street near Southdale Drive.

At around 4 p.m. Tuesday, police say the accused man was arrested with help from the Problem Oriented Policing Unit in the area of Tecumseh Road East Near Westminster Boulevard. About an hour later, police arrived to search a home down the road on Tecumseh Road near Drouillard Road where the female suspect was taken into custody.

Just before 8 p.m., police moved their search to the vehicle which resulted in them seizing an unspecified amount of cash and illicit drugs such as 183.5 grams of fentanyl, 11.5 grams of cocaine, 19 hydromorphone pills and 18 oxycodone pills.

Both of the accused face multiple charges including several counts of possession with the purpose of trafficking.

Police say they will not be releasing the names of the suspects at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Windsor Police DIGS Unit at 519-255-6700 extension: 4361, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
