The Municipality of Lakeshore is looking for information after several park facilities were vandalized.
Throughout the second half of September, municipality crews were called to nine different outdoor washrooms with varying degrees of damage, including broken windows, clogged toilets, and even a melted trash can. The damage prompted the municipality to close the facilities early for the winter.
Also, catch basins at some parks have been removed, creating hazards for passersby. The open catch basins were also filled with rubbish.
"These senseless acts of vandalism have contributed to unsafe conditions in our parks and reduced access to the beautiful facilities that many people in our community enjoy every day," said Mayor Tom Bain in a media release. "It is frustrating to see such disregard for public property as well as the negative impact it has had on our park users and visitors."
The OPP's Lakeshore detachment is investigating the vandalism. Anyone with information should give them a call at (519) 728-1810 or toll-free at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
