Sales down in October but average home prices inched upwards

The average price of a home in Windsor-Essex in October climbed another 2.3 per cent from September.

The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors said it was $565,278 last month, a 31.7 per cent jump from October of last year when it was $429,116.

Despite the increasing cost of buying a home in the region, it was still a busy month for realtors, with 658 residential properties sold. September was the busiest month of 2021, with 777.

Sales may have been down 12.5 per cent from last October, but they continue to climb this year. They are up 15.08 per cent in 2021.

More and more people continue to list their homes too. The association had 855 listings in October, of which 674 are still available. Listings have climbed 18.3 per cent so far this year to 9,082 compared to 7,671 in October 2020.
