17 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday morning.

Among the new cases, eight are close contacts of previously confirmed cases, four were acquired in the community, and five cases are still under investigation.

There are now 177 active cases in the community.

Local hospitals are treating 10 patients who have tested positive for the virus. Windsor Regional hospital is reporting six patients in its care, four of whom are unvaccinated while two are fully vaccinated.

To date, 86.1 per cent of eligible residents are partially vaccinated and 82.1 per cent are fully vaccinated. Around 7,138 residents have received a third dose of the vaccine.

Health unit staff are monitoring active outbreaks at five workplaces, four schools, and four community locations.
