As the November 15 deadline looms, around 22 per cent of the City of Windsor's 3,000 employees have yet to report their vaccination status.
On September 16, city councillors mandated that all staff, council, city contractors, and volunteers would be required to show proof of vaccination.
Anyone without an accommodation who is not in compliance with the vaccination policy will be suspended without pay as of November 15, 2021.
"The research is irrefutable. The vaccine will help protect our community, so as leaders we must do all we can to ensure our community is taken care of,” said CAO Jason Reynar.
According to a media release from the city, staff were issued a reminder of the pending deadline this week. The city is hopeful the vast majority of those not yet confirmed have just not uploaded their confirmation.
The City of Windsor stated contingency plans for a decrease in staff are in place and all city services will continue. Any need for temporary service modification will be communicated as soon as possible.
