Wall collapsed on two workers, says Ministry of Labour

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has confirmed that two people were injured in a construction mishap Thursday in Windsor.

Windsor police were called to the site near Parkview Public School on Stillmeadow Road at around 3 p.m. on a report of an accident on the site of a new school project.

The Ministry of Labour was soon notified, and it was determined that a masonry wall collapsed on two workers. One was in serious condition in hospital, the other in fair condition.

Two inspectors and one engineer from the Ministry of Labour are still on the scene looking into what went wrong, according to Ministry spokesperson Kalen McSween.

The new school is part of the Greater Essex County District School Board, which declined comment Thursday and referred questions to Fortis Group, the general contractor at the site. Fortis Group did not return a message from WindsorNewsToday.ca seeking comment.
