WPS investigating homicide following collison

The Windsor Police Service is investigating a homicide following a crash early Thursday morning in the area of University Avenue West and Dougall Avenue.

Constable Darius Goze with the communications unit said officers were called the collision involving multiple vehicles around 4 a.m.

The driver of a grey Dodge Journey, a 44-year-old Windsor man, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators determined the victim was involved in an altercation with another man before the collision. Officers identified a suspect and a 33-year-old was arrested on Friday morning.

Abdishakur Harun has been charged with first-degree murder, discharging a firearm with intent to wound, pointing a firearm, and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

The Major Crime Unit is still actively investigating this incident. They are asking anyone in the area of Wyandotte Street between Dougall Avenue and Moy Avenue with surveillance cameras or dash cams to check their footage for possible evidence. They say they are looking for footage from Thursday, November 18, 2021, between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.
