The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed more classes and bus cohorts due to positive COVID-19 cases.
A total of eight positive cases in board buildings have resulted in a total of eleven classes, and three bus cohorts being kept home and told not to report to class on Monday.
Four classes were dismissed at F.J. Brennan Catholic Secondary in Windsor after one case was found there.
At Cardinal Carter Secondary School in Leamington, there were two positive cases and four classes dismissed. At the middle school, there was an additional two classes plus one bus cohort sent home.
There was one case at Holy Names Catholic High School in Windsor, with one class kept home. A single bus cohort was affected at Stella Maris Catholic Elementary in Amherstburg due to a single case.
One bus cohort was also dismissed at St. John Vianney Catholic Elementary in Windsor due to one case.
"A voice message to the entire school community was sent home this evening to inform them about the situation, and to notify the parents of those students who were dismissed that they should not send their children back to school until they have received further direction from the health unit," said board spokesman Stephen Fields in an email to WindsorNewsToday.ca.
A total of 20 buildings within the English Catholic school board have reported at least one active COVID-19 case, with 44 active student cases and three involving staff.
Students who have not been notified as being a possible close contact, or are not part of a class or bus group sent home, can report to school Monday as usual. All buildings, except for St. Gabriel in Windsor and St. Joseph in River Canard, are open.
Meanwhile, at the Greater Essex County District School Board, three new cases were reported Sunday at Begley Public in Windsor, Amherstburg Public, and Malden Central Public in Amherstburg. One positive test was reported at each school, two students and one staff member.
The English public board does not disclose the number of students or bus cohorts dismissed.
