Several more Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) classes have been dismissed due to positive COVID-19 tests.
The school board reported Monday that several groups of students and bus cohorts were dismissed from St. Joseph's Catholic High School, Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School and St. John Vianney Catholic Elementary School due to positive cases of COVID-19.
Each school reported a single case of the virus aside from St. John Vianney, which detected two positive cases.
The school board said the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will notify anyone who may have had close contact with any of the positive cases. Parents are asked to monitor their children for possible symptoms. If their children feel ill, they should be kept home and isolated while a health care provider is notified.
"A voice message to the entire school community was sent home this afternoon to inform them about the situation, and to notify the parents of those students who were dismissed that they should not send their children back to school until they have received further direction from the health unit," said board spokesperson Stephen Fields.
As of Tuesday morning, there are 42 active COVID-19 cases at 19 schools within the WECDSB.
More details about the cases can be found on the school board's website.
