The Windsor Residence for Young Men is launching its annual fundraising drive, and this year there are double the reasons to donate.
An anonymous donor has pledged up to $10,000 in matching funds for every donation to the organization between November 30 and December 19.
“WRYM effectively helps homeless youth to build new lives,” said WRYM President Brian Worrall. “Because administration is done by volunteers, our professional staff can concentrate on the needs of residents. That makes us both effective and cost-efficient. Donations directly benefit the programs. We are truly grateful to our anonymous benefactor for this generous vote of confidence.”
Worrall is hoping people looking to donate to a local charity this Giving Tuesday can do so through the CanadaHelps donation page. Each donation through the page could also qualify the organization for additional funds.
In addition, the organization is once again participating in Home Depot's Orange Door Project. The store at Walker and Division Road will be collecting $2 donations from its customers throughout December.
Every year, the Windsor Residence for Young Men helps around 40 homeless youth aged 16-24 find shelter, food, and develop life skills. The organization's annual budget is close to $400,000.
