UPDATE: Classes dismissed from elementary schools in Windsor-Essex

Classes from Catholic elementary schools in LaSalle, Tecumseh, and Windsor have been dismissed after a COVID-19 case was discovered in each.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported Sunday that one class has been dismissed from Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School.

One class was dismissed from Notre Dame Catholic Elementary School in Windsor and another was dismissed from St. Peter Catholic Elementary School in Tecumseh, later in the day.

"We learned of the confirmed case[s] yesterday afternoon and have notified the affected students that they are not to attend school Monday," said board spokesperson Stephen Fields.

The health unit will notify the students when they are able to return to school.

On Saturday, the board announced that two classes from St. Anne Catholic High School and another from Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Elementary School in Stoney Point have also been dismissed.

Each school had one confirmed case of the virus.

The school board is currently tracking 42 cases of COVID-19. A full list of schools can be found on the WECDSB website.

Three new cases were confirmed on Friday; two at East Mersea Public School and one at Hugh Beaton Public School.
