Collision leads to impaired driving charges

A Leamington resident is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash Thursday night.

The Leamington detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and EMS responded to the crash on Deer Run Road at County Road 37 in Leamington around 6 p.m.

After an investigation, officers determined the car struck a guard rail before landing in the front yard of a home. The driver, the only person in the car, was arrested and taken to the hospital as a precaution. After the driver was cleared of any injuries, they were taken to the detachment for a breath test.

The 61-year-old has been charged with the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration of over 80.

The charges have not been proven in court.
