Firefighters were called to the building on Ouellette Avenue near Elliott Street after flames erupted on the fifth floor.
No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and it caused $125,000 in damages.
The man was charged in March with sexual assault offences.
Both couples won in the April 11 draw.
