QR codes will be needed at Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre

Leamington is giving residents a heads up it will only accept a vaccine certificate with a QR code at its recreational facilities soon.

Starting on Monday, youth 12 to 17 will also have to show proof of vaccination if they want to participate in organized sports at municipal facilities. Their vaccination certificates will also have to include a QR code, and access cards issued by the municipality will have to be recertified by a staff member.

As of January 4, enhanced proof of vaccination is needed to enter all municipal buildings. Those with a medical exemption will need to show the document along with government-issued identification.

The Ontario government is phasing out vaccine certificates that don't have the QR code because they are susceptible to fraud.

If you still need to get an enhanced vaccine certificate, you can go online or call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900. The certificate can be used digitally or by printing a paper copy, and they can be printed for free at the Leamington Public Library.
