With some primary health care providers taking time off for the holidays, Windsor Regional Hospital has compiled a guide to help people find care.
The hospital's Holiday Care Guide provides links and information on how to get health care if a patient's primary provider is not available. Under any circumstances, if you are experiencing an acute mental health crisis or a medical emergency, call 911.
Links are provided for walk-in clinics with evening, weekend, and holiday hours; the 24-hour community crisis line for people aged 16 and older having a mental health issue; and TeleHealth Ontario, where a registered nurse is available by phone 24 hours a day.
If you must visit Windsor Regional Hospital over the holidays, links are also available listing special hours of various departments. The hospital has said that due to periodic long wait times, emergency room visits should always be a last resort, but if you do need to visit an emergency department, estimated wait times are shown.
Guidance is also provided for COVID-19 assessment centres and the WEVax.ca website, to book a vaccination appointment online.
The complete holiday care guide can be found, with links, on the official WRH website.
