Some services at Erie Shores Healthcare are cancelled for the day after a pipe burst Friday morning.
Communications & Public Affairs Specialist Kevin Black said the pipe burst around 6 a.m. in a 2nd-floor Obstetrics patient room. Several areas of the hospital flooded, including patient rooms, surgical clinic areas, ambulatory care clinic areas, and the Medical Device Reprocessing Department where medical instruments are sterilized.
Several patients had to be moved, and the water was shut off to a large portion of the hospital while the maintenance team repaired the waterline.
Ambulatory clinics and surgical services have been delayed or cancelled.
Water has been restored to the majority of the building, including all patient care areas. However, infrastructure repairs are expected to continue throughout the weekend.
All patients affected will be called to reschedule their appointments.
