Twice this past weekend, the Ontario Provincial Police laid street racing charges against young drivers going far above the posted speed limit on County Road 22.
On Tuesday, police said they charged a 21-year-old Lakeshore man late Friday night after RADAR clocked his vehicle at 135 km/h. The speed limit is 80 km/h.
Just after midnight on Monday, the OPP busted another driver, this time going 188 km/h on County Road 22 in Lakeshore.
Once again, the officer said it was apparent the driver, who only has his novice license, had been drinking. Novice drivers aren't allowed to consume any amount of alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
The 19-year-old man faces a charge for that and another for street racing.
His BMW is impounded for the next two weeks, and he faces a three-day and a 30-day license suspension.
Police released information about the second street racing incident on Wednesday.
