Windsor Regional Hospital (WHR) is changing visitor restrictions at the Met and Ouellette Campuses, as well as the Regional Cancer Centre.
As of 12:01 a.m. on Monday, February 7, WRH said that a maximum of two essential caregivers will be allowed to visit during the patient's stay in the hospital.
However, only one caregiver may be at the bedside, at a time, during the visitation.
The hospital added that patients in palliative/end-of-life care will be allowed four essential caregivers to rotate over the patient’s stay, 24 hours per day, but a maximum of two caregivers may be at the patient's bedside at a time.
These changes are replacing the “no visitor” policy which went into effect on December 30, 2021, amid concerns about rising numbers of COVID-19 cases.
WRH said they will not change the policy surrounding patients with active confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases, except in very limited circumstances.
Any visitor to the hospital must either provide proof of vaccination or a negative PCR or antigen test taken at least three days before their visit.
Visitors must also wear medical-grade masks, and face masks while in the hospital. The hospital said that they can provide these items upon entry if visitors don't have access to them.
Visitation hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (except Critical Care units).
Critical Care unit visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
