Despite the lifting of the State of Emergency in the City of Windsor, the Windsor Police Service continues to monitor the area surrounding the Ambassador Bridge.
Police Chief Pam Mizuno indicated there is a plan in place should any further action be taken to block the roadway.
"We have a properly evaluated plan going forward. Of course, we learned, as we always do, any time something happens we are looking at how we can do things better, and how we can better prepare ourselves in the event a similar type of protest happens," said Mizuno.
Many east and west access points to Huron Church Road have been reopened to traffic, however, some roads are still closed. Closures remain at Girardot Street, Millen Street, and College Avenue.
"We are continually reassessing. I think the community has seen that we have opened roadways as quickly as possible, especially some of the east/west corridors. Like I said, we continue to assess and we will open them as quickly as we can taking into consideration all the information that we have," said Mizuno.
In total, there were 44 arrests and 89 charges as the demonstrators were removed from Huron Church last week. Mizuno says officers continue to investigate the incident to identify organizers and participants. She said further charges could be laid if warranted.
Final costs to the Windsor Police Service Board and the City of Windsor have not been calculated.
