Fire officials in Tecumseh have called the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal after a house fire caused about half a million dollars damage on Sunday.
Firefighters arrived at the home on Cumberland Court around noon to find the garage fully engulfed. The flames had spread to a pickup truck parked in the driveway.
Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Kavanaugh said the fire started in the garage, but the damage was too great to determine a cause.
There was also fire damage in an area above the garage and smoke damage on the upper floors of the house.
The family was home at the time but got out okay. However, Kavanaugh said it would be some time before they could live in the house again.
