Vaccination no longer needed for extracurriculars

Students in Windsor-Essex will no longer need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in extracurricular activities.

A joint statement by all four local school boards announced the decision after consultation with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit.

According to directives from the Ministry of Education, all staff coaches will still need to be fully vaccinated or take regular rapid antigen tests. Non-staff volunteers still need to be fully vaccinated.

Students and staff are still required to wear masks when not actively participating.

Spectators are still not allowed at extracurricular events, but the boards indicated they continue to evaluate this policy.
