After another major surgery, Danielle Campo McLeod is now focusing on life after recovery.
In August, local Paralympian Campo-McLeod had to fight for her life following a number of complications after giving birth to a baby girl.
At that time, her mom Colleen Campo put a call out to the community to pray for her daughter's recovery. The Windsor-Essex community rallied for the family and raised nearly $90,000 through a Go Fund Me campaign.
Campo-McLeod has been recovering for months but had to have one last surgery.
"It kinda put a closure to all of the medical issues and crisis that happened. So it was unfortunately needed but very, very good," said Campo-McLeod.
She says her family, which includes two other young children, is now settling into a new routine and she's looking ahead on how to give back to the community that came to her family's support.
"We've all kind of adjusted and they know I can't wrestle like we used to and things like that but we have different ways of spending time together. Everything is kind of falling into it's new normal."
She says she plans to write a book and host motivational speaking events in the future.
"I'll definitely work on that book and definitely putting together some workshops or presentations to get the community together and continue this inspiration and to continue moving people to reach their goals and keep fighting their battles," said Campo-McLeod.
