A 32-year-old man has been charged after a crash in Windsor sent him to hospital.
Windsor police say it happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wyandotte Street East and Marentette Avenue. Officers responded to a call about a collision between a motorcycle and a van.
The motorcyclist fled northbound on Marentette Avenue before police arrived, and a description was obtained.
It turned out that the motorcycle was reported stolen over the weekend, according to Constable Darius Goze.
About half an hour after the collision, police found the motorcyclist on Glengarry Avenue near University Avenue East and arrested him. He had hurt himself in the crash and was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Windsor man is charged with possession of stolen property under $5000, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, failure to comply with a release order, and seven counts of driving while prohibited.
The charges have not been proven in court.
