The Windsor Police Service is seeking two witnesses that may have information that could help identify suspects after a taxi driver was injured during an assault on Erie Street Saturday night.
Police were called to the area of Erie Street and Victoria Avenue around 9:30 p.m. It was reported the victim was driving the taxi eastbound between Victoria Avenue and Ouellette Avenue when an object struck the vehicle. The driver reported seeing two men walking in the area.
The driver pulled over to investigate the noise and a man approached the vehicle and struck the driver's side window. The window broke and the driver was injured. He was taken to the hospital with a potentially life-altering injury.
On Tuesday, police released photos of two vehicles that were driving westbound on Erie Street near Victoria Avenue around the time of the incident.
Investigators are hopeful the drivers or passengers in either vehicle may have witnessed something that could help the investigation.
The first suspect is described as an approximately 25-year-old white man around 5'10" with short black hair. He was wearing a black tracksuit. The second suspect was also described as a man.
Investigators are asking anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check their footage for possible evidence.
