WAP production interrupted Wednesday

Some shifts at the Stellantis Windsor Assembly Plant were told not to come in Wednesday due to an interruption in the production schedule.

Unifor Local 444 sent a notice out via social media that the afternoon shift at the plant was cancelled, though people in the skilled trades department and serving as apprentices should report to work as usual.

"All other employees on afternoon shift should not report to work on April 13, 2022, unless otherwise instructed," read the notice, adding that employees should follow the lead of their supervisors.

In a statement provided to WindsorNewsToday.ca, Stellantis' communications head LouAnn Gosselin confirmed the plant was down for both shifts on Wednesday due to a parts shortage from an external supplier. She added production will likely be down for the day shift on Thursday as well.

Those on the afternoon shift should report to work as usual on Thursday unless directed not to.
