Caesars Windsor has announced Sarah McLachlan will return to the stage at the Colosseum this summer.
On Saturday, July 9 at 9 p.m., the casino presents An Intimate and Acoustic Evening with Sarah McLachlan.
Tickets to see the Canadian songstress at the local venue go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday online through ticketmaster.ca and caesarswindsor.com. The Box Office at Caesars Windsor is open Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on show days until 10 p.m.
McLachlan released her debut album "Touch" over three decades ago, but it was her third studio album "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy" that she became an international sensation.
Since then, she has won three Grammys and 12 JUNO Awards. She has sold more than 40-million records worldwide and is an Officer of the Order of Canada. She was awarded the Order of British Columbia and the Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement.
McLachlan is just as lauded for her philanthropy. Lilith Fair, which she founded, raised more than $7-million for charities and launched the careers of numerous performers. In 2002, she opened the non-profit Sarah McLachlan School of Music with the mission of mentoring children and youth facing barriers to musical education.
She is also an ardent animal rights activist, having recorded the song "Angel" to raise money for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. According to the New York Times, the song raised $30-million within two years.
