In-person convocations returning to U of W

Students at the University of Windsor will have a chance to celebrate graduation with their classmates.

The university will hold its spring convocation in person, allowing degree candidates an opportunity to cross the stage to receive their diplomas. It will be the first live, in-person graduation since the fall of 2019.

The ceremonies will take place from June 14 to June 17 at the WFCU Centre, according to University of Windsor Chancellor Mary Jo Haddad.

"This spring’s convocation ceremony will mark the first in-person University of Windsor convocation celebration in over two years," said Haddad. "Our virtual celebrations these past two years have been incredible, and we look forward to welcoming you back in person this year."

Three sessions will take place on the 14th and 15th, and two sessions on the 16th and 17th of June. Members of the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021 are also invited to participate.

The virtual convocations became necessary as the COVID-19 pandemic made large gatherings impossible. Students and faculty participated online and were permitted to collect their diplomas on campus or have them sent.

Eligible students must file for graduation no later than May 1, whether you plan to attend your event or not.

Tickets will not be required for people to attend, but the university has asked that graduates limit the number of guests to four apiece, so as many graduates can have family and friends present as possible.
